Our trip to Hernando

Well, Caroline's 1st plane ride was a success! She did great on the flight there and back. We only had a few minutes of crying during the 1 hour and 45 minute trip. Mommy was very relieved! I also had many nice people in the airports help me with the mountain of stuff required to travel with an infant--car seat, stroller frame, diaper bag, and backpack...whew! I've found out that I am definitely not the main attraction when I go home anymore. When I got off the plane, my mom's complete focus was on Caroline. Guess that's to be expected! I'm surprised I've been able to put her down since we got back home since she was constantly being held, talked to, and fussed over for 8 days. She got to see her grandparents (Grandmama & Grandaddy) and 2 aunts (Roro & Andy) and 1 cousin (Erin) again, and then got to meet another aunt (Alicia) and cousin (Meagan) and uncle (Mike)...along with tons of extended family and friends. She also had a lot of firsts while we were there--1st time going to church, 1st time wearing a dress, 1st time in a restaurant, and 1st time to sleep a looooong night (from 10:30-8:45!). Caroline has also decided that she's too little to lay down all the time. She wants to sit up or stand up so she can check out everything that's going on around her. When she was laying propped up on her Boppy, she almost pulled herself up to sitting! Little Miss Nosy--fits right in with our family! She thinks my dad is super funny and will stop crying immediately and coo and smile and talk when he talks to her. I missed John and Max while we were gone, but it was sure hard to leave. I really wish that we could move closer to my family so that they could be an even bigger part of Caroline's life.

Caroline's 1st trip

Caroline and I will be taking a trip next week...we're flying to MS to visit my family. I'm really excited to see everyone and introduce her to just about the whole town of Hernando. :-) But I'm also really nervous about how she'll do on the plane ride. I'm hoping that she'll sleep during the flight (we are lucky though--it's a nonstop flight, so no layover in Atlanta--yea!!). She's a little spunky sometimes, so you never really know what you're going to get. I'm making lists of everything we'll need to take...and it's a lot of stuff!. Thankfully, I was able to send some stuff back with my parents when they were here a couple of weeks ago. I'm trying not to stress too much about it. Whatever we forget, we can just buy when we get there or live without for a week. I'll be sure to let you all know how it goes! Crossing my fingers that we have an empty seat beside us on the plane!

Consignment sale

I went to a huge consignment sale yesterday with tons of baby and kid's clothes and goodies. I could have spent a ton of money there! It was mass chaos in there at first. I was able to go before the sale officially opened because they have a pre-sale for expecting and 1st time moms. There were crazy ladies in there grabbing armloads of stuff...especially all of the smocked dresses. They were a real hot commodity. I got Caroline 5 cute dresses and a pretty white bloomer outfit. I also got a new sling for me to try out. She seemed to like it better than my other one when we tried it out today. I also got to comb through all the little boy stuff with a friend from work who is expecting twins any day now! I have to give props to Kristin, who is 37 weeks pregnant, still working full time at a PT, and looks great! :-)
PS--I am officially addicted to buying clothes for my daughter!

Girl's Day

Well, yesterday John had a boy's day with a couple of guys he graduated from law school with. They went to Daytona to watch some Nascar racing--ugh! Glad he had fun, but I think I had a much better day. Caroline and I had our 1st girl's day. :-) We went to an infant massage class where I learned how to rub her down and make her sleepy! She was one slippery baby with the grape seed oil that we used! Then, I needed to run a couple of errands and had my fingers crossed that she wouldn't start crying like she normally does in stores. Apparently, the massage worked because she was nice and quiet and then fell asleep! We made it to 3 stores--Babies R Us, Target, and Old Navy. We bought some new bottles, a St. Patrick's Day bib, a couple of outfits for Caroline, new yoga pants for Mama (for me to be lazy around the house, not actually to do yoga in!), and a Valentine's Day happy for Daddy. And then my little sweetie slept for 6 hours last night, woke up, ate, and then slept for about 3 more! Woo hoo!!

1st time blogger

Well, I thought I should jump on the blog bandwagon. I love reading other people's blogs, but never thought I had anything interesting to write...let me know if I bore you! :-) I have a feeling this will turn out to be 99% about Caroline since our entire world revolves around her now. She is 2 months old today--and wow...the time has flown by! I remember our first night home. Sitting her on the counter in her car seat, letting Max check her out for the first time, not being able to climb in bed because of my C-section (thankfully my sweet hubby was able to find my step stool), listening to every little sound that she made. We've come a long way from there! I now feel like I have a pretty good grasp on this mommy job. And it's definitely the best (and most exhausting) job I've ever had. It's the job I've wanted ever since I was a little girl. Well, guess I've rambled enough for my 1st posting. I'm off to bed!
